You are invited to join us for a Six (6) week learning journey through some of the beatitudes called the “Rhythms of Faith” Learning Lab. Each week we will explore a beatitude and then try on practices that might help us begin to live in a new way.
Here’s a brief description about what the group is about:
Conflict rages between groups and nations. The gap widens between the poor and the rich. So many are displaced, left out, or left behind. Due to our actions, even the future of the planet is threatened. If we want change, it will have to begin with us – with our hearts and minds, our actions and our voices.
Is there is a new way to be human? Let’s imagine and make a whole new world. What if we understood the beatitudes as the life rhythm of our faith, assimilating Jesus’ teaching into our life will lead to our liberation? These ancient sayings, spoken by Jesus, in many ways offer not only a way for a new way of life but also a manifesto for a new world order. Hidden in plain sight and so often ignored, even by those who call themselves followers, the beatitudes offer a radical alternative to the broken systems we’ve created. In them we hear the whispers of another world, an invitation to a living way.
For this study we will be leaning on a resource developed by Mark Scandrette called the Nine-fold Path and is created by the NINE BEATS Collective – an international group of artists, musicians, activists and thinkers inspired by the beatitudes. Find out more at 9beats.org.
You will want to bring your Bible. Everything else will be provided for you. While there will be a few “field trips” each session will begin at Bridge to Grace Covenant Church.
Location: Bridge to Grace Covenant Church
Time: 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Dates: February 10,17, 24; March 3,10, 17
Cost: $ 35.00
This is a practice-based group. Each session will have group discussion, exercises and some experiments and practices to try during the week.
To make the group effective, we are asking everyone who signs up to:
• Participate in all sessions (It’s OK to miss one but please let us know ahead of time)
• Do the practices for each beat, which will take 2-3 hours a week
• Share authentically about your experiences
• For group safety, keep what is shared confidential
We think a group like this can really help us connect, grow, and change. You can register by sending a message to dave@b2gcc.org or if you have questions, call me at 678.571.1424).
